You Will Need:
Music, real or pretend microphone (you can use an old cell phone or a box that your child decorates, etc.), computer, head phones (optional), table, and tools for writing
Directions:
Listen to music with your child. Identify the names of the artists, types of music, and the lyrics to the songs. If you have a computer available, use it to research artists. Help your child set up a radio station (table with paper and writing instruments) and have her use the head phones and microphone to role-play being a DJ. Ask her to introduce different artists and talk about them.
Tip:
If your child is the DJ, be the radio announcer and talk about other topics of interest to your child and family.
What Your Child Can Learn:
- To appreciate different genres of music
- To identify artists and learn lyrics
- Confidence as a leader
- About the occupation of being a DJ
