You Will Need:
Empty clear plastic bottles (small water or soda bottles work great), rice, beans, small stones, feathers, small household items, masking tape.
Directions:
Fill a bottle up ¾ with one of the materials and seal it tightly with tape. Sealing it tightly is important because a baby can choke on a loose bottle cap. Play with your baby or toddler by rolling, shaking, and tapping the bottle. Explore the different sounds that the bottle makes. Talk about the colors and weights (heavy/light).
Tip:
If you see the tape starting to peel, fix it immediately. If you have a glue gun handy, you can also use that to attach the lid to the bottle. Infants may also enjoy watching water in the bottle that has been dyed with food coloring. Adding glitter or small confetti stars to the water can add interest, as well. Closely supervise – only allow your young child to play with the bottles when you are around.
