You Will Need:
Recipe cards, divider cards for a box, recipe box for each child or family member
Directions:
Have your child think about her favorite meals and foods. He may research ideas in magazines, cookbooks, or your recipe box. Then you or he can copy the recipe (or cut it out of the magazine) and glue it to the card. If your child can't copy the whole recipe, he still may be able to write the name of the food. Have him add it to his own recipe box and repeat with additional recipes.
Tip:
Foods often bring back memories. Talk about your favorite meals as a child. What did your mother or father cook for special occasions? What was/is your favorite food? Pass on traditional family recipes to your child and help him learn how to make them. Use the recipes your child finds to help plan menus, especially for holidays. Ask him to choose a vegetable dish, or a bread, etc. Encourage him to help with the cooking, too.
